
Digital Audio CD-R Overview
Digital Audio CD-R disc’s are used on stand alone audio CD recorders. A couple of examples of these units are, Philips 765, Philips 870 and the Pioneer PDR V500. These type of recorders can only accept digital audio CD-R media. Some units specify ” Digital Audio CD-R” or “Music only CD-R”. You can not record a regular CD-R in theses units, However once a digital audio CD-R disc is finalized it can be played in any cd player.
Digital Audio CD-R disc’s can be difficult to locate at times. There are only a few manufactures of the disc’s and most prefer the Prodisc or Maxell brands. They are also available in 3 different surfaces listed below.
1. White Inkjet Digital Audio CD-R
This is the hardest media to find. It has a special surface that allows it to be printed on a CD or DVD inkjet printer.
2. Shiny Silver Digital Audio
These are completely blank on top. These can be labeled with regular CD paper labels.
3. Branded Digital Audo Disc’s
These have silk screening on the top of the disc. Usually a large logo of the manufacturer and some lines to write the content of the disc on.

What is a Business Card CD-R?
Business Card CD-R is a hockey ring shaped burnable CD-R. They Hold about 50MB of data and are available in regular shiny silver or white inkjet printable surfaces. We currently carry the Ridata / Ritek brand which can be recorded up to 32X. Each spindle contains 100 disc’s and 100 vinyl sleeve’s.
What are they used for?
Business professionals like to use them as their digital business card. They are widely used as a marketing tool at conventions and trade shows.
How do you print on them?
White Inkjet Business Card CD-R must be printed with a CD-R printer. There are professional line printers available and now Epson and HP both are manufacturing inexpensive CD-R printers.
Regular Shiny Silver Business Card CD-R is best labeled with a paper label. To do this you will need a printer, some business card CD-R labels and most importantly is the label applicator. Find yourself a Business Card CD-R labeling kit. Most will include the applicator, some sample labels and software to design the labels. Labels are available in a matte finish as well as high gloss.
