This is an OSx86 BASICS tutorial, it’s meant for absolute beginners who wish to enter the “Hackintosh” world. For advanced info refer to insanelymac(dot)com and OSx86Wiki. This tutorial should be enough for average tech geek to install OSX on non Apple PC. Please, refer to OSx86 Wiki for additional info and check if your hardware is compatible with this distro or OSX. You can download additional drivers, but there is no guarantee they exist, especially if you use non common hardware devices …
ok..i make this
it will boot OSX with 2GB RAM only, sometimes OSX won’t boot if it does not have appropriate amount of RAM (Apple used max 4 GB when this distro was compiled). You can also try with 4GB
What is a Mobo PS Thanks for the advice.
and what do this??
try this bootflag (hit f8 when darwin is loading): maxmem=2048
HP Compaq nx6325
Are you sure that OSX partition is not extended (you can check with Acronis or Partition Magic)? Also, go to the BIOS and set your SATA controller to native IDE, default etc. not AHCI. What laptop?
ya..i made this..but it don´t work
what laptop? You have to install OSX on separate partition and that partition HAS to be primary
i´ve got a S-ATA…i´ve got an laptop…i tried today and yesterday 3 times..but it don´t worked
“one time it worked”? How? When? What mobo do you use? Do you have SATA DVD and HDD drive?
yes..but it don´t work….one time it worked..but now it doesn´t work
hey, so…have you tried the advice above?
hey..i´ve got the same problem …
your HDD configuration is wrong. You have to install on the primary SATA drive. Yes it supports AMD for sure. If you are trying to install on a secondary drive, unplug the Windows drive, set your SATA controller to “native IDE”. If the DVD won’t boot then you have burned data DVD not bootable DVD. What mobo do you use?
I tried using this, it wont work it just keeps on redirecting me to windows, plus I made another disc using a different program and it did the apple logo with the spinwheel and just kept on going until a cross sign was indicated, is something wrong does this really support AMD so can someone help me?
Just get the latest you can and install Windows7, you’ll have much better, faster and capable platform than OSX platform. And later when OSX comes to 10.6.8 or so, there will be patches for it.
unfortunately u are right clark, I guess all the geeks are well on their way to doing the i7 860 chip/mobo set but I will have to wait if I dont/cant sus it out my self
I would say to go with what most of people use. I use “old”-ish A6VMX by Foxconn with A690 chipset, in my case everything works OTB with correct drivers selected. You can see my specs in my demo videos. One guy I was helping had i7 board and he managed to get it to work (evga x58 or something). In general, it’s better to go with older components because OSX is always “late” in term of new technologies, like i7.
what mother board are u using exactly clark? I want to go for a i7 860 but most pple are building on 920 chipset which is less efficient and costs more. I know its the gigabyte p55 mobo but MSY computers dont have the exact model other posters talk about, do u think this will make a difference if a go for what ever p55 I can get?
Well, I’m not sure, you should look for tutorials on how to do this. Try insanelymac. I just tried to install OSX ON a USB stick, but I never did it OF of it. This can be done, though.
thx for the quick response!
so it would work through a usb flash drive if i put the iso on there? (just wondering because its also in the boot menu)
It won’t work through USB DVD, you have to have SATA or IDE drive. There is a USB installation, but you’ll have to look for another tutorial and distro (like iDeneb lite).
when i put my burned dvd with the ISO on it and select the USB CD drive in the boot menu.. it just starts windows xp! any help?
